gdomeierParticipant
This requires kontact?
gdomeierParticipantAny feedback on this? I thought is would be interesting to be able to “remix” tracks into different keys and what not. Obviously it does much more than that.
gdomeierParticipantAscap won’t take tunesat data either to make corrections. It’s just their policy.
gdomeierParticipantI think it makes more sense for established composers that have a large number of cues being used for years. There are more opportunities for tunesat to detect unreported usages than someone just starting with a more limited number of cues.
I fall into the latter category and will likely end up cancelling. It’s been great to see cues being used well before they hit my pro, but the cost benefit just isn’t there for me.
50% of the non reported detections ended up being gratis usages that I can’t get any $ for. Also, tunesat misses a number of cue usages that end of being reported normally to my pro. They rest have been a long pita to get resolved, and even then they don’t bring in enough $ to justify the subscription cost.

gdomeierParticipantThanks Art.
gdomeierParticipantTry going into the wrapper settings (gear button in the upper left corner of the vst plugin window) and deselecting “Allow Threaded Processing” onteh Processing tab.
I had problems with battery that was similar on render and that solved it for me.
gdomeierParticipantI have not, but I have considered stringing the main cue and all the edits into one long track and uploadng that.
gdomeierParticipantHow often do your specific time edits get used? Looking at cue sheets, I rarely see any cues that match up to those time values. They mostly seem to be random times.
gdomeierParticipantBy bed, do you mean no melody instruments or vocals?
gdomeierParticipantMy experience with ascap on these matters is they will direct you back to the library or the production company.
gdomeierParticipantFor those of you that have success with rf sites, are the tracks you upload to them non registered with your pro? I am not sure if having my cues registered with my pro is a deterrent to sales on rf sites or not.
gdomeierParticipantI use excel. I have a column for each library as well as ascap. I put in an S when I submit to a particular library, then an A (accepted), E (exclusive) or R (rejected).
Finally, I also put and X in the ascap column when I register the song with them. also have a bpm column at the end.
gdomeierParticipantThank you both for the feedback. It was helpful. I generally high pass guitars and bass around either 40 or 30 hz. Same on the master with a high cut too.
I generally track using seinheisser hd280 phones. The bass is very light on them, so when it sounds thick there, I know it’s waaaay to much. I generally listen to my track in the phones, then my pc speakers and finally some consumer behind the head sony consumer phones at work.
On a related note, I understand mixing on headphones is generally considered verboten, but other than issues with panning, is there a reason not to do it?
Seems it would be easier to get a flat/reference type of sound via headphones rather than expensive studio monitors and room treatments.
gdomeierParticipantEric, we appear to be a similar stages in this business. I have most of my cues as non exclusive. I also have an exclusive deal with another publisher that I submit cues to. Those are mostly custom type requests.
So far, the non exclusives are working well for me. The custom/exclusives are starting as well. No reason not to have cues in each type.
gdomeierParticipantI won’t die if you have they have to be on 🙂
