Thank you for answering Art.
I know it’s similar to my previous post, it’s more a concern of my customer who wants to make sure I’m getting my writer’s right.
Like, making sure my PRO will have all the elements needed in order to recognize me my royalties.. I’m actually fine with him, we both just want to make sure we are doing things properly
. On my PRO I just upload the mp3 and song’s data, title, length and (real) name writer (with percentage) it seems they have all the elements to find out when the music is generating royalties
. Yes I guess it’s supposed to be irrelevant, indeed can’t speak for every country
Thank you as usual for being super helpful Art.
maxquainiParticipantSorry not sure what you mean
maxquainiParticipantSadly cannot help but it’s a very interesting question!
maxquainiParticipantThank you for your reply Scott!
Yes it makes sense, I can understand it.
I’m more interested about the communicative part of it.
I’ve heard some libraries just sent out payments almost automatically but I was wondering if they also keep posted their artists about placements.
I guess it might be different from library to library (and even person by person) but I was wondering if there’s a sort of pattern in the way they interact with their artists.maxquainiParticipantOh awesome to know! Thank you for your feedback!
maxquainiParticipantIt makes sense, I’ll investigate with my PRO.
So, potentially royalties are generated (recognized and paid) even without any particular paper work, automatically?
Sounds too good to be true, this is why I was wondering if some extra work is required in order to let it happen.
I know it’s gonna be an irrelevant amount of cents, I’m just concerned about doing all I need to do and work correctly in order to get potentially paid.
Thank you again Art.maxquainiParticipantThank you Art.
maxquainiParticipantThank you Art for your reply, of course first thing I’ve always done.
Tought in this case some extra work would have been necessary.maxquainiParticipantthank you so much Art, always very helpful!
yes I know about the ridiculously low rates on streams but it would mean something for other reasons than the pure business. Thanks again!maxquainiParticipantI was opening a new thread about it, but since there’s an existing one I guess I can ask it here.
Did you finally moved from SIAE to BMI or ASCAP?
I’m planning to move from SIAE to BMI, I was wondering if someone here experienced the process, how it was and what exactly happened to the existing catalog in SIAE, if it’s done by PRO or you will have to register songs again with BMI.
Thank you in advance!maxquainiParticipantThank you for sharing this Art!
I guess a big hit is more a great marketing work than everything else and maybe the same production would have been a hit even with a different loop, but indeed it has to be pretty much frustrating hearing your sound in a big hit without any kind of reward and income…
I appreciate your feedback, thank you for this, but now I’m just wondering what’s the income of sounds designers? And who’s doing this? Unless they are working on custom works and maybe they are very well paid?
It’s something I would really like to learn, if some of you has some experience about it, would love to hear from you, thank you again!maxquainiParticipantthank you so much for your reply and suggestions.
Yeah meant Royalties Free, not exactly planning to sell them on P5 and stuff, I was just wondering if it does make sense to have them copyrighted but you explained pretty well your point of view and I agree.
My main concern is if it worth having copyrighted but it does make sense trying to deal with libraries who just sell loops, didn’t thought about it since I am more focused on doing music with libraries.
But it just happened that even guitar loops might have a market I guess, and some upfront won’t be disappointing, I will check out those you mentioned, thank you again!maxquainiParticipantok once forever I am fine with it! thanks Art!
maxquainiParticipantForgot to mention I’m Italian and SIAE (our PRO) pay twice a year – Jan and July – usually one year after the songs were on air… So I’m not sure if should I expect something or not from that placement.
Still working hard on increasing my portfolio indeed!maxquainiParticipantThank you for your feedback!
The point is, while most of my works are with an exclusive library and most songs will come out in the next months, last year I had a song – non exclusive – pitched for various shows, the Bellas, the Divas, the whole MTV, and really at least 3/4 more most of them on eTv. The fact the song has been pitched indeed doesn’t necessarily mean it will be used but I can’t believe not even once at least in one show? I was wondering if there’s a way to check it out avoiding to watch the whole shows the whole season 🙂
Wished Tunesat would have made the job!
Thanks everyone! -
