PatParticipant
I’m also slowing down my uploads to libraries that pride themselves on having 10 gazillion tracks. Great for clients. Maybe 10 gazillion clients would help.
PatParticipantDeceasing for sure. I seem to do better with backend placements. I don’t think I’m a great fit for the RF libraries.
I used to have a long list of libraries but have since cut that list down drastically to only arond5 or 7. Doing metadata for a bunch of libraries I wasn’t selling on slowed my writing down to a drip and was counter productive for a business where volume matters. I quit submitting to the ones that don’t do me any good which is most of them.I’m writing more music now.
Seems now I have a better chance for placements with fewer libraries but more music.May 18, 2014 at 2:17 pm in reply to: How much do you roll off on individual tracks for more headroom? #16353PatParticipantHey Denis. This is great. The way you put it makes perfect sense to me. I’m going to check it out right now. 35years is a ton of experience. No wonder your mixes sound like that.I have many years as an un-professional.
Now that I’m getting old and about to die, I have this itch to learn something. I believe my compositions are getting better but my production skills are getting left behind. That’s why after all these years I want to learn something other than by trial and error. I got tired of bumping into the same problems all the time without the knowledge.
Much appreciate it!May 18, 2014 at 11:22 am in reply to: How much do you roll off on individual tracks for more headroom? #16351PatParticipantI’ve listened to quite a few of your cues on AS and your mixes sound great, balanced and full.
I actually have all the Fab Filter plugins.I have all the (arguably) best plugins but my knowledge in their uses need to catch up. I put the Pro-L on Every Track.
Thanks for the info Denis and I will take your advise.

Just haven’t been able Gasp the concept enough to use it practically to any great benefit but the way you explained it makes me want to revisit it.

Thanks ArtPatParticipantI like your tracks abellboy especially Smooth lounge. They are nice and simple without alot of changes, twists and turns which I believe helps make them sell-able. I have a bad habit of making my tracks a little too busy to be in the background.Even when I stat out simple sometimes I’m not satisfied until every crevice is filled with sound when most times the music is not supposed to be the star.
May 5, 2014 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Which Exclusive library is most consistent in placing the music they accept? #16229PatParticipantSome good input there Advice.I do try and catch credits on TV sometimes but often times they fly by so fast I can’t make it out. Knowing who the libraries are that won’t give you the time of day is a non-stater but I’m stating to really look into them.

I should have also said,”who also accepts submissions and will talk to you” lolPatParticipantIt says Quality Free so I assumed it meant free from quality.
PatParticipantI hope he thinks food was meant to be free too and opens a grocery store so I can quit being a greedy composer and still eat.
PatParticipantI avg 2 a week generally but depends on what’s involved. I also do one track at a time from start to finish. Sometimes if I just can’t get an idea to gel to my liking in a reasonable time say a day, I’ll put it in my “rough ideas” folder to fight another day and start again with something that better suites my mood. I made a mix buss template from cues that have worked well for me that with each new project and I mix into them as I go. When my song is done, so is the mix for the most part as I will only need to do minor tweaking of the mix buss plugins depending on the type and style of music I’m doing. I also setup a mastering chain template the same way. I save many hours I used to spend mix and mastering. I then do my edits then metadata then submit to all the libraries I deal with then start over.
PatParticipantPretty happy with this one.
PatParticipantDownloaded mine but I keep stalling in looking at it. lol Doesn’t have to be much but I’m hoping a trend to the upside. Maybe another cup of coffee first. 🙂
Congrats to you guys!!
PatParticipantForgot to add, it’s a cpu hog!
