I`ve been using EZdrummer too and it can sometimes work pretty well. But very often I find it hard to fit perfect in the mix so I would not recommend it. Is your experience otherwise?
Hi Kenny
The kit I use 99 % of the time is the Nashville one which is fantastic. All the others are so so for me. Don’t forget you can trigger other samples/VI’s from the midi notes, I frequently will augment with Addictive Drums. I think the midi grooves that toontrack have are really good. Very well put together by a real drummer with an electronic kit.
woodsdenisParticipantI use Addictive Drums,EZ Drummer,Stylus RMX and loads of samples I have collected over the years. I have been beta testing Ableton Live 9 and their Audio to drum track feature is amazing. It will analyze a drum groove and convert it into a midi track !!!!
woodsdenisParticipantAnd lets not forget GOOGLE really does have everything tucked away somewhere !!!!
Also, internet forums posts can be misinterpreted , conveying an idea succinctly can be difficult at times, cultural differences definitely do play a part.
Simple things like bad grammar and spelling can convey a negative impression IMHO.
I am not a grammar Nazi, but something that is unreadable would not give me confidence in working with someone. Communication is very important in this business.
woodsdenisParticipantOne thing some people don’t consider is if your backup drive(s) are physically in the same location as your DAW (e.g. internal or external in the same room), fire, flood, theft, etc can make you lose everything. So it’s important that at least one backup is offsite- either a drive stored elsewhere or web-based.
What Cloud service do you use Advice, yes I have my 2nd BU off site.
woodsdenisParticipantSeperate 2tb fw drive for Audio and Sample drive back up. Once a week.
Portable drive for Time Machine.every month or so
woodsdenisParticipantNice one Jay !!!
I dont think I have ever seen a three figure payment for one play, Radio One plays in the UK are very good if you are a pop writer. Very high.
woodsdenisParticipantprobably not that different from your DAW’s EQ…
there are some good deals on waves.com , but you’ll have to splash a little bit more
Would agree with this, really good eq 10 years ago but native DAW eqs easily on a par, if not better than this. I did splurge on Waves stuff in the past couple of months with the huge discounts. API/Neve bundle maybe still on offer, try Audio deluxeoops can’t get this quote thing together back to front on original sorry
woodsdenisParticipantA really good EQ is the Waves HEQ which is on offer I think. Like #tag I am not an advertisement for Waves stuff as it was way overpriced. With the deals on offer its worth it now.

woodsdenisParticipantI can see both sides to this one. I have used PPC, since its removal I have not seen a drop in sales. BUT I am very lucky to have a few top sellers in popular categories, so they would come out on top of searches anyway. I used PPC to give visibility to new tracks I upload and rotate them out over time.
woodsdenisParticipantSo you’re going into each module and tweaking?
I have Presets in each plug, The NLS and Kramer dont usually change at all apart from gain staging. The C6 is adjust to taste and the Limiter is usually set to Dynamic and -.5 db output.
I never liked the sound of Ozone 1-4. 5 seemed a lot better but it freaked out Protools so I binned it. I think that these days you can get the better individual elements at the same cost. Waves stuff has come down a lot. It was always good just way too expensive for the current market.
Check your mail !!! I sent you a link to the new Valhalla which is brilliant
woodsdenisParticipantRight now I use Ozone 5, but I’m thinking about upgrading to Ozone 5 Advanced to get individual component control AND Insight metering. (any thoughts on that Denis?)
Apparently its quite CPU intensive, its moving a lot of pixels around !!! I dont have the skills to interpret what I would be seeing either LOL
I dont think I would have a use for the individual components with all the other stuff I have. Its also quite expensive.
woodsdenisParticipantAll in one solution Ozone is the standard, the Flux Alchemist is the best multi band dynamics, expensive and deep. Massey Limiter is fantastic but Protools only.
The Glue is definitely NOT crap. I have used it on many things and beats or equals any SSL bus comps out there.
I use a combo of things which I think gives a better result
In this order
Waves NLS
Waves C6 Multiband
Waves Kramer Tape
McDSP Limiter
Spectrum Analyser
Phase meter.
All modules in Ozone of course, I just prefer to have each component individual.
woodsdenisParticipantAlso, AudioSocket recently offered writers the choice to opt in or out of the YouTube content ID program.
AFAIK you had to OPT OUT of that one.
woodsdenisParticipantI don’t doubt that there is a niche out there for each of us,
There may well be, but if you are a Library Music Composer that niche will have been created by someone else. By definition we serve a marketplace driven by demand, and that demand is fueled by popular entertainment. I have great pride in what I create and even greater satisfaction when it is licensed.
