Hi Raffi,
Yes it can be overwhelming when first starting but success is achievable. You could find all you need to know just on the free forums here but you would need to do a lot of digging. I’ve never taken a course but that’s not to say they are bad. I just don’t know about them. As we like to say this is marathon not a sprint. So, take a deep breath, listen to a lot of music on the various libraries, do a lot of research and believe in your self!
Art MunsonKeymasterThanks everyone for your comments and yzzman1 stated my position exactly. There is a lot of great information on MLR that may be older but is still relevant. Human nature, being what it is, has a tendency to discount anything that appears older in their eyes.
That being said, I have thought about it and the one area I might bring back the dates would be on the libraries. Sometimes they can get stale. I doubt I would bring them back on the forums though.
Once again, thanks for the comments and keep them coming.

At least that was my experience with them. I’m now with Identifyy and so far they have not interfered.
Art MunsonKeymasterGot our BMI Statement this morning. Mediocre would be my word also. The most startling placement was for a song I co-wrote in 1978 showing up on The Today Show on NBC. Go figure.
Art MunsonKeymaster@audioscott. Yep you are right. Just checked mine and the same here.
Art MunsonKeymasterGlad to hear that MM_Musicworks. Only the 19th here so hasn’t hit the U.S. yet.
May 13, 2022 at 8:24 am in reply to: How long did it take you to reach 4 figure PRO payments? #39732Art MunsonKeymasterWe’ve been at this for about 15 years. For us it was only a few years but the business has changed a lot since then. Much tougher now as the market is saturated with music. It is a long game though so I would keep at it.
Art MunsonKeymasterPlease keep any comments, about a library, at their listing here. This should go here: https://musiclibraryreport.com/p-to-p/pond5/
Art MunsonKeymasterArt, what if the promos appear on Numerator with an ad code? Can you send it to ASCAP/BMI along with the video as proof to get paid? I have around 20-30 promos that have ran on Fox News and Fox Business.
Haven not heard of promos with an ad code. Call the commercial dept in Nashville and ask them. They are usually very responsive.
May 10, 2022 at 7:43 am in reply to: Libraries with a particular interest in solo jazz piano? #39720Art MunsonKeymasterDoes anyone know of libraries that would be specifically interested in solo jazz piano?
I believe that most libraries would want a broad range of genres so their catalog would appeal to a wider range of potential clients.
Art MunsonKeymasterDoes it make sense to have the same track in both a non-exclusive PRO library and in a Royalty-Free library?
I have been doing for years.
Art MunsonKeymasterSeems okay for me.
May 9, 2022 at 7:09 am in reply to: How much to charge someone to use my music as an intro for their podcast #39712Art MunsonKeymasterA lot would depend on how popular the podcast is. Anywhere from $50 to $1k?
As for a contract check this out:
https://www.rocketlawyer.com/sem/music-license-agreement.rl#/Art MunsonKeymasterGiven the state of the music business today and IF I needed the money, I would take the deal. Generally, it would take a lot for me to give up a copyright.
