Thanks Music1234. Inching closer! 🙂
Art MunsonKeymasterThe latest update is that Numerator/Competitrack has started tracking this commercial. Unfortunately their start date is May 2020 so that doesn’t account for the thousands of airings from December 2019 through May 2020. It’s progress though and hopefully Numerator is now tracking all healthcare commercials.
Art MunsonKeymaster4th quarter = October 1st through December 31st.
Art MunsonKeymasterWondering… it seems the priority of members on MLR, are more concerned with making money than composing.
That’s a bad thing? There is idealism and common sense. To make the leap that if you are interested in making money with your music you are not a lover of creating music is ridiculous. I have been writing music for over 50 years and much of it has never made any money. Making money, or not, would never stop me from making music.
Art MunsonKeymasterCongrats Mark, that’s an impressive payout! Was that all one quarter or previous quarters?
Art MunsonKeymasterThat particular payment was.
Art MunsonKeymasterYes, Amazon really sucks while Bezos gets richer and richer.
BTW that Netflix payout was for 3rd quarter 2019 but showed up on the recent statement for 4th quarter.
Art MunsonKeymasterSame here, mainly pennies except for this surprise.

That’s just about what it is, for cable, based on our current statement. If you have the publishing (which we did) you would double that.
June 13, 2020 at 6:26 am in reply to: Competitrack / Numerator again questions for a US Commercial #35141Art MunsonKeymasterThey all pay on commercials. BMI doesn’t give breakdowns on time of day or length. The big catch to all of this is that Competitrack does not track healthcare commercials. At this point no pay for those types from BMI. As I mentioned in another thread, we have a healthcare commercial with around 15,000 airings and not being tracked. BMI says they will “work something out” but we will see.

2. I’ve always read them as separate airings for each commercial.June 4, 2020 at 7:52 am in reply to: [Newbee Question] Adapt an old boogie classic as theme song #35095Art MunsonKeymasterI did a quick search and it appears it may be in the public domain which means you don’t need to license it. If so you could copyright your arrangement of it. I’m not a lawyer so this is not meant to be legal advice.
Art MunsonKeymasterPlease post here https://musiclibraryreport.com/m-to-m/musicsupervisor-com/
Art MunsonKeymasterOh, yeah… and please avoid so-called “royalty free” libraries. They have a portion (or all) of their music they license for free, and you get nothing but what is usually a very small piece of the back-end.
Not true, I have made many thousands of dollars, in back-end money, from commercials on licenses sold through “royalty free” sites. And, I don’t have to give up control of my copyright.
