ChuckMottParticipant
O.K. Any other takes on that question though?
Willing to bet my top 5 are similar to others as far as RF goes. But people paying attention on here likely know what those are anyway.
ChuckMottParticipantI am curious, rough guess-timating at best, but at around 70 tracks in the the RF system, and with edits around 330 total, what would you expect your sales to be on a monthly basis. In numbers, not dollars….spread across say 5 of the more popular RF sites? Overall and on a site by site basis?
As for me, crunching numbers, basing on averages, really doing about the same as last year, same coming in every month.
ChuckMottParticipantMaybe check into the risk of it getting wrapped up in content id. Or just treat it as exclusive, and charge the samme you expect an exclusive library would get for it and price it like you would a bed? Just taking a shot in the dark here and no one else seems to be chimimg in.
ChuckMottParticipantCheck out the Chris Klein HArmonica VST , expensive but sounds like you get what you pay for. The Sonivox is cheaper, and what I went with and is not a bad choice. The one in Xpand (which I discovered after I bought the Sonivox) sounds better then what you would think, if you’re a Pro Tools user. Wish I could play the real thing. Someone should start a “garage sales finds” thread.
ChuckMottParticipantThis thread has some really impressive composers chiming in on it. Since I posted it I wish I had time to comment on all of it, but I have listened. Eric B. what do you see as being a good choice of horns for smooth jazz/ instrumental pop stuff if I could ask? Does the Samplemodeling stuff still rue the roost, as I’ve heard many cite these as a favorite? Horns and even synth brass stuff is starting to work it’s way into my repertoire. And for the record, jazz (and smooth jazz) is what I listen to half the time, with the usual guys being favorites (Miles, Coltrane, for guitar – -my main instrument- Pat Metheny, Mike Stern).
Check out some of the accolades for Eric’s jazz stuff . Art’s probably going to fine me for every time I post the word “impressive” on this thread but….wow.
ChuckMottParticipantThanks Art. Just being nosey now but at any given time how many subscribers do you think you have on MLR? For the record, great site and a great value for the lifetime subscription, cheaper then most ” pay to play services” charge for one years service and, excuse me for saying so, far more valuable.
ChuckMottParticipantGood to know. Going to grab one of the on sale specials and work them into a track. Appreciate the feedback!
ChuckMottParticipantAnyone make use of any of these products?
ChuckMottParticipantAnyone cat to comment on this real life scenario: Track is exclusive pitch geared towards airplay on a specific show, if it doesn’t get chosen for the show, gets rolled over into said libraries’ NE catalog. Thoughts? Is this a common practice?
ChuckMottParticipantIt’s nothing real fancy but I use stock art from one of the sites that allows me to sell my music. Unless I had a real clear custom art logo in mind I wouldn’t do it any other way.
ChuckMottParticipantI believe one of those types of Ukelele was more “traditional Uke sounding” then the others but can’t recall which?
ChuckMottParticipantMight be neat to do the scratch takes DI until you can have some quiet moments to mic record the uke’s final takes………am considering doing that (mostly out of laziness) and start recording final takes micng my guitar amp instead of using amp sims. Or one obvious workaround, mic it to where it sounds great and then spend some time creating some presets in your eq or channel strips to get the best approximation from your di’d uke.
ChuckMottParticipantMy cheap Gretsch New Yorker mandolin mic’d squashes any VST or mandolin patch in my VST’s. No one that I am aware of would advocate a using a pickup over a mic on any acoustic instruments. If it is a matter of not being able to mic, i.e. background noise, and you’re not happy with the sound of the di’d instrument, I had good results with 8dio also (in my case it was the Dobro Solo). A uke is one of the items on my wanted list, and being primarily a guitarist, I would buy a cheap one of those before a VST. But I did use a uke patch only once, and it has since been one of my better performing/selling tracks. I heard that this also might possibly be the catchy track title (Coolhand Uke ). FWIW….
ChuckMottParticipantI think we are on the right track with this Michael, weird thing being I can’t find the stand alone version in my Mac have NO idea why. Gonna wrap my mind around this but I assume it is possible to install only the Kontakt application then repudiate. Ideas helpful but trying this now…thinking it must be on Disc 1.
ChuckMottParticipantThanks guys. Never know that internal program existed until this happened. Appreciate it!
