I’m not telling you what to do, or give you legal advice, but If I had to actually lose money in WFH agreements to submit an album to a library, I would personally decline.

There are still Libs that pay money for Instrumental and Vocal albums but they have to be A-Game, awesome tracks with top notch production.
You never mentioned if the Lib pays sync fees or what the split is.
BTW, I believe you answered your own question when you mentioned having to lay out cash for WFH agreements.
NY ComposerParticipantBMI’S thoughts on the Discovery situation:
BMI is very concerned with reports of a policy change at Discovery Networks that would decimate the livelihoods of the composers who create music for their programming.
Discovery’s plan would set a very dangerous precedent for all creators and also take advantage of composers who either don’t fully realize the impact on their future earnings or simply have no other choice but to sign away their rights.
We are surprised to hear that Discovery would take such an aggressive position against creators and urge it to reconsider.
NY ComposerParticipantI’m gonna contact my local Congressman and see if he can research if any hard case law exists.
Let’s start a F**king revolution 🙂

Just curious. On the free account, can you see who listened to your play list and track other listeners?
I’m trying to remember why I paid for the Pro account :-).
NY ComposerParticipantI really don’t think this is anything new.
There are plenty of virtual instruments that are non-transferable.
BTW, the terms and agreement should appear before you download.
NY ComposerParticipantI don’t know what company you are referring to. Sounds like Waves.
I’ve have other plugins that have been in use for years with no problems.

.
For 8 bucks a month, the Pro account gives you the ability to make many different playlists. That’s basically a trip to Starbucks.I send many private playlists to demo submissions.
NY ComposerParticipantI’m sure Crucial will have many tracks in that genre for Source Music.
NY ComposerParticipantHey LA,
My concern was the latter part about a “New” composition being made from stems.
I always add something, even subtle to a stem so that no sound stands entirely alone.
Thanks for the thoughts but I’m certainly not gonna choose another biz because I was curious if anyone else had the same concerns.
July 16, 2019 at 2:05 pm in reply to: Same or different styles for exclusive library submission? #32717NY ComposerParticipantHey RM,
It depends on a few things. How apt are you at multiple genres? If you are great at EDM but so so at Orchestral Tension, you should just write what you are best at . If you are able to write multiple genres, it’s great to show a diversity in writing style.
On important thing to note. Have you researched the library and what genre most of their placements are? There is a big difference between Dramady cues and Corporate, etc.
NY ComposerParticipantI am quite versed in Jazz and Funk/Fusion.
Just from my experience, I tried shopping Retro-Funk and Jazz to my publishers and they say there is little use for the stuff.
NY ComposerParticipantSounds like BK to me.
NY ComposerParticipantI’ve turned some people, from this site, on to my big placement Libs.
I have not seen a drop in my placements. I believe that it comes around because other people have introduced me to productive Libs.
NY ComposerParticipantI’m also sure that when Mark started, he established relationships with Libs who pay up front or upon delivery. He may have kept these relationships going.
I’m only aware of 2 or 3 Libs that pay up front nower days. It says a lot.
