I’m actually about to look at selling the music library that I setup a while back. Its fully built and functional (apart from some small parts as I downgraded my hosting from VPS to shared hosting). Like Mark said – it takes so much time and effort to just get it built and setup, but the hard part is the long term strategy and not paying yourself anything for long periods of time from it.

Hi guys, sorry about that – were you getting an error message saying “Floatbox doesn’t support quiks mode?”

If so, could you try again – it should be working now 🙂

Hi AKMP, yes in terms of genres and tags, you actually create your own ones which you can then select when you upload a track 🙂

Hi Michael, not limited to mp3 files no – upload a wav file and it plays the mp3 on the store (backend server conversion occurs)

Hi Michael – one time investment. All the genres/meta-data will be handled via a backend login area:

Capacity will be limited to your own hosting capacities.

    Hey guys,

Sorry to hi-jack this thread. I was looking into doing exactly this also – I’ve got the front end of it all designed, but would love to get some feedback from you on the design/layout/usability?

I’m hoping to get it developed in HTML5 in around 2-3 months time (then get it working with wordpress after its working on normal HTML pages).

I’d be looking at a higher price point than Mark of around $300 or $150 and a % of each sale that goes through it. Too high?

Do you think the design looks professional and would do everything you need it to do?

    Cheers!

Ivory Grand Pianos II and EWQL Pianos here. Like both – but the Ivory Grand Pianos is the more versatile of the two.

I emailed artists@JP asking for details, contract, etc for the exclusive option and just got a reply with the contract. Didn’t read it yet but my email WAS answered.

Same here. No response regarding questions – just a contract

Saw it before, but wasn’t very impressed with it to be honest. If you plan on having 5,000 tracks in your library, thats $299 per month ($3588 per year). For just a little more, you can have your entire website built from scratch how you want it, as well as be able to edit and change it as you see fit.

Is that through wordpress Art? My problem is that I have composer accounts, which have to all have privaleges to upload to the bucket, then any customer who downloads its should have to download it from that bucket too. Apparently in php, thats fairly complex.

Yup absolutely agree. Its pretty much a full time job no matter how small the site is. Hosting can add a huge expense also depending on how its done. I looked into Amazon S3 hosting – its relatively cheap per GB, but getting it implemented to your website can be pretty expensive depending on the complexity of your site. I was quoted $1400 to implement it on my site. Accounting fees also mount up fairly quickly.

I think its the small things that all add up to a pretty hefty amount when you look at it from a distance

I’m currently setting up my own one. http://www.AudioforApps.net

So far, having a custom built HTML platform has cost me around $5k. Its not complete yet either. I’d imagine to get a fairly functional site that looks nice, and have it marketed/SEO etc. will be around $10k
