I submitted my bank info to a library I just joined… however, they seem to be a well established, large player.

I just signed a track with a library that wouldn’t accept any melodic/ harmonic phrase samples from any samplebanks.

Another library was ok with their use as long as they were modified to sound like “your own” creation.

I used melodic samples or chord progressions when i was uploading to RF libraries… Since shifting focus to exclusive libs, ive only used them for one shots/ “top” perc loops and transition fx.

    Mine grew by 600 %.

Last payment was $19. This one is $116. Lol 😀

Seriously though, I see it as a definite sign of progress.

I know of 2 nonex libs that accept covers for their catalog… musicsupervisor and tunedge… how good they are at getting placements for them is unknown to me.

Art, hope its ok posting names here as its a members only part of the forum.

    All the best!

Fully agree… I’ve started submitting my individualised songs to libraries… My tastes do lean towards the mainstream… So, hopefully that’ll help.

My 2c… I’m a fulltime muso… But, relative newb in the library business… Just 2 years in.

While writing for libraries, I don’t worry about artistry… Just match the brief… And off it goes.

To satisfy my artist side, I compose and produce songs without any tangible outlet. I do this maybe once a month… Just so I don’t forget why I started doing music in the first place. Keep the music fan alive… 🙂

If, as you say its a 50/50 deal then yes, all 16 will get the composer paid 50 percent of net earning for each placement.

@vasim… That depends on the contract you have with the library. There are some libraries that pay no share of sync fees to the composer… Only back end royalties.

In some cases, the library splits the publishing share with the production house/network.

The libraries I work with send me a quadterly statement at the end of every quarter and then send me any money thats due to me via paypal 60 days after the statement is generated. HTH!

    Hi uniqueplace… Thanks for replying.

I agree with your analysis… Am now only sending in tracks for specific briefs and not just uploading blindly

    Thanks again.
