Which other library to join ? #22064andrejParticipantAll very well with the big ones, however how to get through to them to listen to your tracks .Hardly any of the them have new composer welcome link ,so the phone calls and inquires where to send stuff etc. is very time consuming (at least in my experience)and then once you get your stuff up there (with great luck)there is no garantee that you gonna make big buck either or more then in RF world. And whats worse your tracks are tied with exclusivity.
To my opinion there are more and more high qality tracks apearing in RF market and though true that there is plenty of crap there too,
I cherish a good faith that great tracks will finally seep through to the top and sell better.Regarding the different clientelle(rumours that big music supervisors sniffing around RF libraries make my days happier).I record with vintage drum kit pieces ,cymbals and guitars ,authentic 19 century antique pianos, real rhodes even real brass and violins and all for NE RF market.
My belief is that once you associate your name in RF world with quality ,clients will be coming back there for your music so the heap of the crap around don’t matter that much.
andrejParticipantThe idea is that when client enters the keywords he gets to the page with
the possible candidates he is going to be biased by the discriptions of the tracks so he is going to make different selection for listening unless of course he listens one after the other from the beginning of the page regardless of the name and description and that seem less probable.
In the case of what I call thumbnail library he is only biased by the name
so I guess there is more chance for the better track to be selected versus better described track.
Maybe be too much psychology in this but still got me wonderingandrejParticipantSorry my grammar ,I meant Thumbnail and by that those libraries that shows the tracks in small icons across the screen horizontally and vertically in thumbnail icon with waveform and name of the track below e.g.Pond5,Tunefruit etc.
andrejParticipantI think inspiration would be the major advantage for me, when I lived in NYC I would to take walk in the central park and recharge ,now I have to watch out not to step in the cow xxxx.
But I don´t complain ,every place has it`s magic ,but just to be on the safe side I have to fly to some major metro area now and then.andrejParticipantThat’s an excellent news then ,thank you guys I was sort of discouraged about getting itin number reading some older posts on the subject.
andrejParticipantTry Magnatunes they do a lot of idie quality stuff also check The Music Bed for folk rock indie music although I’m not sure if this one is excluvise
andrejParticipantI was wondering what would be the PRO income share for such author, if any
andrejParticipantI think you can be creative and original writing simple music, as analogy I could use example of writing , you can write lots of fancy words, long fancy cliche sentences and not say nothing, on the other hand if you have a good idea or content ,simple words can do the job.
andrejParticipantRegarding the selflicensing via personal website , I believe it will be very important or common for serious composer to have his catalogue ready for license as I suspect we are not far from third party agregation of online production music sources,be it libraries ,stock sites or personal composers sites, not unlike what is happening in other areas of bussinesses e.g. (hotels, airline tickets )
So if a composer’s music will be directly accessible through the agregator and has the same chance in the search results as that of the other production libraries …?
Bye Bye complicated metatagging ,keywords and discription for diverse libraries….dream come true.
Your own catalogue out there with one system of metas, keywords etc.
And all the time available for making music
andrejParticipantHello Mark, if the trend picks up it and will funcion well for composers that might be a welcome change ,I didn’t use the word threat but reaction , anyway that might be solved with a clausule in the contract or RF libs going more exclusive.
In any case if it will afect the Rf libs , it’s the natural course of evolution of things.
When years ago libraries were starting to pop up and music supervis0rs started to license more music from them , I believe the composers that worked on commision weren’t too happy about it.
I think it’s a good idea with lots of potential ,I wonder if it could be compatible to use on soundcloud or other similar sites.
