BEATSLINGERParticipant
Thanks for sharing MichaelL!
I enjoyed it thoroughly!!
BEATSLINGERParticipantSo I have been in the market for a new keyboard controller and am seeing that options are limited.
Options are limited? You must be in a Rural Area..
The best way to find the right Midi Controller for you is to “lengthily test drive them”
Not a advertisement for Guitar C, but they are “damn Near everywhere”. Go, and ask a LOT of questions, and try some out to see what works the best for you. Also, If you are in the USA there is a 30day no questions asked return policy…
BEATSLINGERParticipantHello to all!
No offense, but isn’t this a part of the problems that are taking in place in this instance of “The Current Music Situations?”
People so busy taking the easy route, and shortcuts; rather than getting the sense of accomplishment by being faced with the opportunity of being challenged to learn, and to grow?
In this modern day society, it seems like everything is being handed; rather than being able to forge into uncharted territories to unlock YOUR true potential..
Sorry, it’s out there, and I feel I needed to say what is truly in my heart..
BEATSLINGERParticipantHello to all!
Unless we are talking about some type of new concept where you get paid a ridiculously low price for the composition/song; and there is NO backend. This has been going on for YEARS, and backend royalties have been the major source of my income..
BEATSLINGERParticipantI personally still don’t trust “Cloud based storage, and Time Machine” so I still have a “couple” of external drives that I send my work to..
BEATSLINGERParticipantI would say “It doesn’t hurt to ask”
BUT, don’t just send something you know they don’t have; without being in touch with them, and getting their permission..
Once again, this is a GREAT place to do research!!
Like, for instance. I know “Cavendish Music” does not want Hip Hop, but I was in touch with an affiliate; and got into another Library through (being prepared) making the relationship..
October 29, 2017 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Do you give up writers share to those who demand it? #28761BEATSLINGERParticipantHow do you go up against the biggies, like Getty Images? They take 35% of writers and 100% of publishers. If not for them I would have nothing.
How do you go up against the biggies? Why go up against them; just bypass them, and work with Libraries & Catalogs that are doing MUCH better business!!
You are part of a “Very Candid Community here” and simply by doing your research, and watching the comments. You should be able to set yourself up quite nicely!!
I wish I would have known about this forum earlier, but better late than never.
BEATSLINGERParticipantHello to All!
I am waiting to see if another Mac Desktop Model comes out this Xmas Season. I have my 12Core “Work-Horses”, and LOVE them. But, I know they are gonna start phasing them out of the updates some time soon.. I personally think they made a mistake switching from a “Battle Tank to an Air Purifier!” I am thinking the lack of sales will have them bringing a “Heartier Model” some time soon..
October 27, 2017 at 5:20 pm in reply to: How does the Big 10 network get away with not paying? #28739BEATSLINGERParticipantYou know something, it’s fun to watch “The Rounders” speak about their cues. The only people that I am noticing that are not in the convo are “Abby”, “Pat”, and “LAWriter”.
October 26, 2017 at 8:55 am in reply to: What advice would you give a really talented newcomer…. #28729BEATSLINGERParticipantGood morning. I would say this.. I would start with “several non-exclusives”. Even if they are “Reality based, or low paying” take the work! Build your confidence, and your portfolio by getting a lot of placements. Those placements will lead to bigger things!!
Do a MASSIVE amount of research/studying of the exclusive libraries, and start pitching after you have gotten your confidence level up. Be VERY selective, and stingy with whom you provide exclusive catalog content; until you see that your tracks will not just sit around waisting away.’
To run concurrent with the non-exclusive libraries would be “RF/Pay Per Cue” libraries, and sites. Select a few, and make sure that you are not infringing on anything contractually (Pond5 would be a top choice to start) with each one of those..
Just my Dos Peso’s..
BEATSLINGERParticipantI have seen some really good tutorials. The only thing is “They want you to join a paid subscription after showing you a few really well done basics..”
If I might. There is this guy from Texas, that has one on YouTube where he “took the mystery out of The Circle of Fifths!!”
Once again though, it leads to a paid subscription..
BEATSLINGERParticipantYou are too kind! I am humbled! (bows head)
BEATSLINGERParticipantThank you Brother LA!! Just getting them solid, and ready to go “To Market”
You don’t like my abrupt ending? I was trying for my (Seinfeld episode) “Beat Nazi approach”..
“NO BEATS FOR YOU!!”
hahaha
BEATSLINGERParticipantHope you don’t mind Brother LA. I sent you a couple of attachments in your PM
BEATSLINGERParticipantGood Attitude!
