Otherwise, being exclusive is too limiting in a market thatโ€™s expanding and changing exponentially every year.

TRUTH!! As well, these Libraries are acting like they are “Demi-Gods” lately.. GTFOH

LOOK. You can get these $5/$10/$!5 cue writers all day long, BUT the real “I can write/compose in damn-near ANY style writers? You need to address those egos, and come again!!” Top tier writers will ALWAYS have a say-so, because we are the “true life’s blood of this industry!!”

I just passed on adding a new exclusive to my roster (Starts with an E) “They were passing on My Strongest Stuff” and picking “My Mindless, fill the space afterthoughts..” Also, The guy in his “So-Called Studio” was trying to give me his.. Feedback.. Tell me what my mixes were lacking. It was OBVIOUS HE was NOT in a real studio; didn’t have satisfactory monitoring, nor decent Subs..lol

    I digress, and ranted..lolol

Not doing advertisement at all, but I am SESAC..
I personally have seen monies from The UK, France, and Canadian PRO’s that are more than usually OUTSTANDING!! Also, I feel certain companies have VERY outdated ways of tabulating our monies in their favor, or in favor of “Bigger Fish that they are courting..”

Just my “2 Peso’s” BUT, there are more Fish in the Sea than just ASCAP..

As well, there are foreign PRO’s that are GREAT at processing royalties that come from The USA!!

The best Feedback I can give is
    1) Don’t give up no matter what!
    2) You’re following the (not so good) track writers, that are waiting for a M.C/Rapper to make the track come together. It sounds incomplete/missing some key elements to make it a “Composition”..
    3) “Try” working without using quantization. The tracks are WAY too rigid, and it’s blocking what could be a natural groove
    4) You can get placements now, but you would be playing the $5/$10/$15 Cue Game. You need to steer away from that to set yourself apart from the pack of writers doing the same thing. Work on YOUR creativity, and start identifying YOUR OWN style!!

Wish you well, and I hope this helped! If you would like to hear my work, send me a PM, and I will send you some links..

So I have been in the market for a new keyboard controller and am seeing that options are limited.

Options are limited? You must be in a Rural Area..

The best way to find the right Midi Controller for you is to “lengthily test drive them”

Not a advertisement for Guitar C, but they are “damn Near everywhere”. Go, and ask a LOT of questions, and try some out to see what works the best for you. Also, If you are in the USA there is a 30day no questions asked return policy…

    Hello to all!

No offense, but isn’t this a part of the problems that are taking in place in this instance of “The Current Music Situations?”

People so busy taking the easy route, and shortcuts; rather than getting the sense of accomplishment by being faced with the opportunity of being challenged to learn, and to grow?

In this modern day society, it seems like everything is being handed; rather than being able to forge into uncharted territories to unlock YOUR true potential..

Sorry, it’s out there, and I feel I needed to say what is truly in my heart..

    Hello to all!

Unless we are talking about some type of new concept where you get paid a ridiculously low price for the composition/song; and there is NO backend. This has been going on for YEARS, and backend royalties have been the major source of my income..

I personally still don’t trust “Cloud based storage, and Time Machine” so I still have a “couple” of external drives that I send my work to..

I would say “It doesn’t hurt to ask”

BUT, don’t just send something you know they don’t have; without being in touch with them, and getting their permission..

Once again, this is a GREAT place to do research!!

Like, for instance. I know “Cavendish Music” does not want Hip Hop, but I was in touch with an affiliate; and got into another Library through (being prepared) making the relationship..

How do you go up against the biggies, like Getty Images? They take 35% of writers and 100% of publishers. If not for them I would have nothing.

How do you go up against the biggies? Why go up against them; just bypass them, and work with Libraries & Catalogs that are doing MUCH better business!!

You are part of a “Very Candid Community here” and simply by doing your research, and watching the comments. You should be able to set yourself up quite nicely!!

I wish I would have known about this forum earlier, but better late than never.

    Hello to All!

I am waiting to see if another Mac Desktop Model comes out this Xmas Season. I have my 12Core “Work-Horses”, and LOVE them. But, I know they are gonna start phasing them out of the updates some time soon.. I personally think they made a mistake switching from a “Battle Tank to an Air Purifier!” I am thinking the lack of sales will have them bringing a “Heartier Model” some time soon..

You know something, it’s fun to watch “The Rounders” speak about their cues. The only people that I am noticing that are not in the convo are “Abby”, “Pat”, and “LAWriter”.

Good morning. I would say this.. I would start with “several non-exclusives”. Even if they are “Reality based, or low paying” take the work! Build your confidence, and your portfolio by getting a lot of placements. Those placements will lead to bigger things!!

Do a MASSIVE amount of research/studying of the exclusive libraries, and start pitching after you have gotten your confidence level up. Be VERY selective, and stingy with whom you provide exclusive catalog content; until you see that your tracks will not just sit around waisting away.’

To run concurrent with the non-exclusive libraries would be “RF/Pay Per Cue” libraries, and sites. Select a few, and make sure that you are not infringing on anything contractually (Pond5 would be a top choice to start) with each one of those..

    Just my Dos Peso’s..
