Mine was pretty pitiful as well. Placements in some cable shows that netted me a whopping $24.00……..

It’s really about ROI, and looking at it, I doubt if having the website per se has brought me any income directly. I think in doing what we do, as many said, it is all about the music. not really about us.

ThanksGaryWParticipantI have used loops mostly in World Music tracks, as I do not have all of the ethnic instruments I need for Middle Eastern, Indian, and African pieces. Find them very helpful in getting an authentic sound. I’ve also used them to enhance tracks that I have played real instruments on.

Yes most of my placements have been from RF sites, and mostly Cable, which as you know does not pay very well in general. About 95% of my income comes from RF sales. But I have only been at this for 4 years now, and it is going to take some time.GaryWParticipantA whopping $17.00…..
GaryWParticipantWhen I started doing this a few years ago I too wrote just to write. Sometimes I still do. But now when an idea for a track hits I think 1.) what genre or genres will it fit into 2.) how will I title it, and describe it 3.) what keywords or tags will best describe it.
GaryWParticipantThis year has been very up and down for me, as opposed to the past couple of years. I have only been selling RF tracks for a little over 4 years now. This summer has been particularly bad in general. But I keep writing and uploading, as you never know……
GaryWParticipantLove it!! Thanks for posting it….
April 25, 2014 at 11:59 am in reply to: What has been your best selling genre this past year? #15948GaryWParticipantFor me it has been 1960s Surf Music, and classic rock.
GaryWParticipantMark:
That makes sense to me. It was in December that I started to see the sudden change in my RF library sales. I thought it was seasonal, but it kept on for these past few months.GaryWParticipantOut of all of the RF sites I am on, two are always consistent with sales month to month. Pond 5 and Musicloops.
GaryWParticipantI agree with Mark.
GaryWParticipantDave:
So how do you pay your players? Do they get a cut, or do you have enough of a budget to finance it yourself and still make money?.
