the only thing is that the rate is about 1 zillionth of the TV rate!

Like I said, these things works quite similar to Spotify πŸ™

As far as I know this is still not completely sorted out from a legal point of view. I`m in Europe and here`s how I`ve been told that it should work:

Just like Spotify and similar services streaming is considered a public performance of a song, and should therefor pay a small amount of performance royalties. Β Not sure how on earth this would be handled and I donΒ΄t know what US Law says about this. But in general laws on copyright and performance rights etc. are pretty much the same all over.Β The problem is that most countries has a royalty system from another era when internet and streaming didn`t exist, and there are different opinions on wether streaming is a public performance or not.

The kit I use 99 % of the time is the Nashville one which is fantastic

Woodsdenis was absolute right. I got a deal on the Nashville kit for $34, and itΒ΄s well worth the money. Sounds much better than the kits that comes with EZdrummer and has actually turned this drumsoftware into a very usable tool for me.

In an earlier post in this thread I recomended to stay away from ezdrummer because it could be a bit tricky to mix it, but I guess I will have to take that back πŸ˜‰

There’s probably a few dozen desperate writers pouring through their hard drives right now looking for ukelele samples to do similar cues.

Good to follow the trends, Β so I`m off to make some dubstep ukulelesongs πŸ˜‰

I really love this car commercial from a couple of years back.

Saxophone can be pretty sexy if you do it right πŸ˜‰

    Hey Michael

I always keep deleting that most recent list to avoid going back to things all the time… hehe πŸ˜‰

Pretty different workflows here, but I still get some music done.

I`ve got a pretty good idea what library your secret little club is all about here πŸ˜‰

I`m not a composer with them yet as I have been going back and forth with this retitle issue for a long while. I don`t really like it actually, but I also see the benefits from it.

Anyway IΒ΄m not trying to make a thread about retitling here, but would much appreciate some opinions on if it`s still worth to join this library as a new non-exclusive composer. Or will it most likely be a waste Β of time since this most likely is not their priority anymore?

Joining them exclusive is not an option as I want to keep a little more control of my tracks for a while, to get a little feeling of where this whole business is heading. I hear so much about music sups staying clear of non-excl because they only find the same tracks in almost every library. But only time will tell if this actually happens.

Most often only one track at a time, and average 1 track a week. Don`t have time for more as most of my income is from touring and gigs.

I most often do a lot of rough mixing during the production stage, so there is actually not a whole lot of work left for the final mixing process. But there is of course something left so a final mix will most often take me a couple of hours, which i prefer to do as the first thing in the morning (after a cup of coffee off course πŸ™‚ ).

I try to not do any of the admin stuff during my production time. Usually i dedicate 1 or 2 whole days each month to only admin stuff. This would include uploading, writing descriptions etc.. and also all the admin related to my touring, like sending invoices etc.. Β Regarding descriptions, I do make some notes during the production stage of the track.

There is off course a small amount of admin that would have to be done on a day to day basis, like reading e-mail and stuff. I do this around noon every day combined with a little lunch break in my studio to rest my ears.

Pretty organized guy here, but I guess you need to be if you`re going to live as a gigging musician combined with running a studio and running a family πŸ˜‰

Glad to hear I was wrong about EZdrummer then, and I’ll probably give the Nashville kit a try πŸ˜‰
I really like the fast and easy workflow of EZ, so if this is a way to make it sound great it will make me a very happy man πŸ˜‰

    @Woodsdenis

I`ve been using EZdrummer too and it can sometimes work pretty well. But very often I find it hard to fit perfect in the mix so I would not recommend it. Is your experience otherwise?

Must admit that I use preplayed midifiles for a lot of my drums, and I actually don`t mind. There are some really good options out there and I know very few people who can actually finger play midi drums that good with the swing/groove and the ghost`s that makes a good drum track.Especially the ghost notes makes all the difference for me. Not saying that this is impossible, but it sure takes a lot of skills and time. Off course these things can be midi drawn pretty good, but playing them on a midi keyboard or drum pad is a bit above my skills.

Superior Drummer from Toontrack would aslo get the job done. Absolute useable but I don`t know how it compares to the sets already mentioned in this thread. Toontrack also have a couple of expansions called Nashville and Vintage Rock kit or something like that, that might work for the country/bluesy kind of stuff. However I have not tried these myself so I don`t know how good they actually are. As far as I know they are actually made for EZdrummer, but will also work with SD.

Stay clear of EZdrummer from Toontrack if you want to get high quality drum tracks without too much engineering. It can sometimes work pretty good for pop/light rock stuff, but it often takes a bit too much time to make it fit good in a mix.

If you are on Logic you might also want to try a couple of the stock drum kits. Some of them are actually pretty good. Especially the seventies kit would work well for a some bluesy stuff as long as you`re aiming for a more vintage sound and not the Gary Moore blues sound πŸ˜‰

Being professional and treat people with respect is among the most important things in music bussiness.
There is a lot of people that can make music as good as you or play good enogh to get your gig. But there is actually not too many musicians who knows how to run a bussiness.

    Thanx folks.

    Maybe I’ll give it a try πŸ˜‰
Not too happy with stock pro tools plugs myself, but Logic is very usable I think.
I do have some valhalla plugs which I’m pretty satisfied with, but maybe santa will drop by my studio a litlle late with some waves stuff as well πŸ˜‰
