Just curious if any music on tv has really caught your ear lately.   Have you been watching a show and have a cue really stand out?  Have you ever noticed the same cue on more than one show?

Not really licensed I think, I love the theme to Dexter, a great marriage of visual and music.

About 15 years ago Somewhere Over the Rainbow, recorded by the late Israel Kamakawiwo’ole…was a licensing home-run …in Meet Joe Black and a bunch of commercials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_DKWlrA24k   Arguably it started the whole light-hearted ukelele thing in ads and trailers.

Philip Phillips has recently had a lot of licensing success with Home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoRkntoHkIE

I happened to be reading this thread and will share a fun ukulele track we just licensed a few minutes ago to a client.  Here at AudioSparx, we sell a number of sweet, lighthearted songs in addition to a lot of Dramatic and Corporate tracks.

I was impressed by the music in the PBS documentary “The Botany of Desire”, based on the book by Michael Pollen.  The composer was Martin Bresnick.

Barbie… honestly I think the self-promotion post you made was going a little far.

The topic being, any licensed music caught your ear on TV? Heard the same song on more than one show? I mean… clearly that isn’t asking for a library owner to post a link to their own library’s track.

In reply to the question: “Any licensed music that caught your ear?” I could post a link to any one of my tracks. How would you all feel about that?

@AB…I’m not so offended by Barbie’s post , with the exception that I wouldn’t want to be the composer. There’s probably a few dozen desperate writers pouring through their hard drives right now looking for ukelele samples to do similar cues.

This Absolut Vodka uses a really cool Swedish House Mafia track, when I saw it I immediately looked up the music:

Sorry guys, I was a bit inspired by the video featuring the ukulele that MichaelL had posted showing the late Israel Kamakawiwo’ole — and had just licensed a uke track I thought might be a bit inspiring and on point, since so many TV commercials are featuring uke tracks these days.
Apologies, I shall try to mind my p’s and q’s going forward.

I really love this car commercial from a couple of years back.

Saxophone can be pretty sexy if you do it right 😉

For all you guitar players out there, consider a baritone Ukulele. It’s tuned the same as the top four strings on a guitar.
