Q: A solo acoustic guitar piece of mine is being used in several episodes of a popular late night talk show on NBC. It’s being played right before they “cut” to the featured musical guests (while the host is saying his goodbyes). Anyone have any experience with closing theme music? Not even sure this would constitute a closing theme…

BMI and Ascap differ on what qualifies as a paying placement. I would call/write your PRO and ask if yours qualifies as a paying closing theme. And if it does, ask the percentage.
