    Great information here all around! I didn’t realize that the US law is only on your side if you use THEIR system, but I suppose that does make sense. Seems like it should be more of a public service though in that case, like your local library where you check out books for free.

    No, you cannot file a copyright lawsuit in local government small claims court. They do not have jurisdiction. Federal courts have jurisdiction over copyright cases.The copyright office is working on establishing a small claims court.

    Registering collections is a viable option, if you are the sole publisher of the works.

    I would never advise anyone to not register the copyrights for their works.
