    Hi all,

I’m just starting out in my stock music / music library journey.

Just wondering if anyone has advice as to if it’s worth forming a company to trade from rather than doing this as a sole trader?

I imagine transitioning to a company in the future could be an administrative headache so I’m thinking it may be best to start with a company from the start?

Are there any down sides that anyone knows selling stock music through a company?

I appreciate that this is also a question for my accountant but thought I’d ask here too from an artists point of view.

    Many thanks,
    Mark

Not sure what you mean by being a “trader” but I have an LLC that I use to run our income and expenses through. More tax advantages for us. You should speak with your accountant though.

This is not advice as I’m not a lawyer or accountant.

Thank you! By trade I just mean to “do business”. Good to hear you do run your business though a company with no issues. Sounds to me like it would be the best way to go but will speak to accountant too.
