PatParticipant
You still drive on the right side of the road? That’s where the crazies are but I like your idea of removing the steering wheel and other controls though. That would clear the way for my Marshall stack to plug direct into the DAW.
PatParticipantI’m not worried about that one bit here in California. They’ll be so high from smoking all that weed while they’re driving they won’t even be able to operate the DAW. Sad but true.
PatParticipantlol!
PatParticipantMy thought is it isn’t so much that paid courses necessarily teach you so much “more” than you can probably learn for free but that some people feel they learn “better” in some kind of structured situation that courses offer. Some people want to be able to monitor their progress as proof that they’re actually learning stuff where grabbing tidbits here and there and asking one off questions all the time isn’t enough. I’m kind of like that. If that is you, maybe try the sync course for $20 a month. If it works for you it would be worth it. If not you didn’t blow a $1000. From what I read you have 30days to try it out so there’s really not much to lose either way.
PatParticipantlol! It used to be a frustration of mine when I first started that anything I thought was a good idea to pursue, somebody couldn’t wait to tell me how much better it was back in the day before I started doing it. I’ve since learned to tune that out for lack of being helpful in any possible way. Just do what you do, take what you can use and throw out the rest and I would completely ignore the “We were just in time but it’s too late for you” crowd. Just try and bring your A game. My 2 cents.
PatParticipantCongrats! Which library placed it?
PatParticipantI have Ozone 8 advanced and never use it but when I did, it was mainly for the Master Assistant so I wasn’t considering 9 until I saw your post so I’m giving Ozone 9 a quick look. I have a bad habit of wanting stuff after the intro offer is over.
Low end focus and Master Rebalance is kind of interesting and probably the main two things that would make me consider upgrading if at all. Low End Focus claims to be the first of it’s kind but it seems to me to be similar to Mastering The Mix Bassroom which I have already and only use sometimes. Master Rebalance is pretty amazing after watching the video but I don’t know if it’s a deal maker for me at this point.
To be honest, I have Weiss DS1 and Acoustica Audio Diamond 3 on my master and that pretty much does the job.I’m gravitating toward keeping it simple. I don’t want a ton of menus and modules these day to have to sift through. It slows my workflow instead of enhancing it but tomorrow I may think differently but I doubt it. I don’t think there’s a plugin made that works for every situation even the Weiss, so I’m trying to keep an open mind but my history with Ozone is to buy it then use something else. I’m thinking about it. $150 for the few features I would probably actually use may be a bit high but if I decide I want it later, it’ll be higher so there ya go. Not sold at this point though. I doubt I’ll upgrade but not sure yet.UPDATE: Decided not to upgrade. The reason, the Rebalancing tool seems cool BUT, it seems more suited for someone who does his mastering as a separate process. I do my mix and mastering in Cubase in all one thing so if the bass, for example, needs a boost, I just boost it. No advantage for me so I can’t justify the purchase at this time.
Long post but I’m waiting for my clothes to finish drying so again, there ya go. 🙂PatParticipantPersonally, I always do alts and edits while everything is still midi so where to slice up .wav files isn’t an issue for me. I also don’t mix down then apply my master fx as a separate operation. Everything is done while everything is midi including alts and edits. By time the composing is done, so is the mixing and mastering “for the most part” because I do it as I go and I find that it actually helps with my composing ideas because I’m inspired by almost hearing the finished product as I go. When I export the stereo file, it’s done and that’s it. It’s just how I work and I feel like I’m able to get more music done that way. I don’t recommend it or not recommend it, it’s just how I do it and it just seems to work for me.
PatParticipantThat was the first thing that came to my mind Art. lol
PatParticipantok, I got a reply from a library that has sent out a similar request so generally – x amount for the right song. If the composer wants to create it there is no guarantee.(Not sure what the last part means).
PatParticipantThanks Wes_B. I just emailed a library that sent out a call like that and asked how that works “generally” speaking. I’ll relay what he says.
PatParticipantThanks Michael and Beatslinger for the response. That’s kind of how I took it but wanted more feedback.
PatParticipantHey Art. I’d say kinda of an ebb and flow. I seem to have settled within a range. Feels like a stock that won’t break out and like you said, a couple more pages without any real noticeable pay increase. Seems the added pages are just enough to maintain the status quo.
PatParticipant“Looks like advertisement..” Sure does.
PatParticipantI use Reference as well. It really makes a difference. I live in a condo so I do much more headphones headphone mixing than I do through speakers.
