MLR Phone App

I’ve been thinking about a phone app for MLR for awhile now but didn’t know quite how to get there. The other day in USA Today there was an article on how to do this, for free, at the web site www.appmakr.com (there is no “e” in “makr” in the domain name). The process is pretty simple but not having a smart phone I have no idea if I have it right. So if any of you have an Android phone would you please go to the Android market place, try it out and let me know if it works. Also let me know if there are any features you might want add. BTW the app is free. Here’s the link.

Apple iPhone. What a pain in the butt! I signed for their developer account ($99) jumped through all of their hoops and tried to activate my account and they say they can’t recognize me. Two e-mails to them and no reply, argh!

Production Music Union For Composers

I received an e-mail from one of the composers on MLR suggesting that I would be in a good position to try and form a production music union for composers. As he rightly points out actors, musicians, makeup artists, production crews have unions (with varying degrees of success I might add). I responded to his e-mail that it would be a daunting task and I would rather be writing music! I do think it’s an interesting idea and worthy of a post to at least start a conversation. So… Have at it!

Earn Free Access To MLR

While it is true that there is a charge to access the music library listings there are many areas that remain free and include a wealth of knowledge. There are also ways you can gain free access to the music library listings by helping to build MusicLibraryReport.com into a better site and a more vibrant community.

Articles will have to meet SEO (Search Engine Optimization) requirements (all green bullet points) here:

1.) Earn one month free access. Review a music library. You must have been with the library for at least 1 year. It should be an in-depth review, at least 900 words, and delivered in a Word docx file. It should include:

1.) How long you have been with them.
2.) The number of tracks with them.
3.) Amount of income generated (nothing specific, 2 figure, 3 figure, 4 figure, etc. per month.)
4.) Communication response times.
5.) What genre sells the best for you.
6.) Filling in any of the missing details in the MLR listing of that library.
7.) You can remain anonymous but I will need your name and user name for the site you are reviewing.

Please contact me first with the libraries you are considering as many have already been reviewed.

2.) Earn three months free access. Write a compelling article on a subject you think would be of interest to the music library composer community. It should be in-depth, at least 900 words, and delivered in a Word docx file. Contact me first on your subject.

3.) Earn one month free access. Review a piece of music hardware or software. It should be an in-depth review, at least 900 words, and delivered in a Word docx file.

Examples are here https://musiclibraryreport.com/category/software-reviews/ and here https://musiclibraryreport.com/category/hardware-reviews/.

Please contact me first as to what products you are planning to review. Please do not plagiarize, reviews will be checked here http://www.copyscape.com/.

4.) Composer Interviews. Please see details here.

Thank you.

MLR Radio

I had this idea of setting up some kind of radio station or player on MLR where folks could feature a couple of their favorite tracks that they have written. It would be open to all but would be instrumentals only. Please let me know if you like the idea. If so, any ideas on how to implement it would be appreciated!
