and I never said there is only one way to get there.
@More Advice. Actually you kind of did. Your overall approach, while not wrong, is not for everyone. Each person has their own comfort zone and I believe if they follow their passion they will achieve their goals, regardless of the path they take.
Art MunsonKeymasterAs the saying goes, “different strokes for different folks”. For any one person to say there is only one way to achieve a goal is just crazy talk.
Art MunsonKeymasterThey are all instrumentals.
Art MunsonKeymasterI do belive the composers making 150k with 100 tracks are playing in a different league than I am.
Same here.
Art MunsonKeymaster@Chuck Mott. Most of the money comes from TV placements and a good number are DnBs. The other alts are 15s, 30s, 60s, etc and I’ve noticed more and more of those selling on RF sites.
@Tbone. +1 to that!Art MunsonKeymasterI would say about 200-300 complete songs but with alts it goes up to about 600-700 hundred. I have been going back to older cues and adding more alts to them, particularly the ones that sell well.
Art MunsonKeymasterNext week the “Orchestrator”.
Art MunsonKeymasterI’ve done some serious calculating on this matter and I think I will get by very good if I can earn 40k a year from library work. Some of you guys here have been around a while, so I wonder what your opinions is on how realistic this is?
Very realistic. I’ve been doing this about 7 years and I’m not much of a marketer of our music. Earning around $40k but I’d like to get to $100k, I’d be content with that.
Art MunsonKeymasterI can upon this story about Fullscreen. The article is from August but is relevant here.
———————————-Music Publishers Group Sues Fullscreen YouTube Network Over Copyright Infringement
The National Music Publishers Association is suing multi-channel network Fullscreen for copyright infringement by alleging that they use unlicensed music in their videos.
In a statement, the organization said that Fullscreen “directly profits from advertising revenue generated by unlicensed music videos on their channels, but does not compensate songwriters or publishers.” The NMPA said they are doing this to make sure that their songwriters and music publishing companies are fairly compensated.

Art MunsonKeymasterAny feedback on this?
I haven’t really dug into mine yet. Just haven’t had the time.
Art MunsonKeymasterCheers and Happy Holidays to Everyone
I second that. Stay warm Barbie!
Art MunsonKeymasterYes Rob, nice one!
We have a similar situation living on an island, in a marina, about a mile from the ocean. We are an hour north of L.A. but it is much more affordable, laid back and it’s a relief to be out of L.A. In this day and age it really doesn’t matter where you live.
Art MunsonKeymasterMore advice. You need to use the closing tag of b-quote or your whole comment looks like one quote. I fixed them for you.
Art MunsonKeymasterThe next step is taking the reports he generates, along with copies of the cue sheets and any relevant data and present them to BMI for payment.
Just a follow up to let everyone know that we’ve finished my reports, one for incorrectly paid cues and another for unpaid cues. I contacted the royalties department at BMI, sent them them reports and awaiting their response.
Art MunsonKeymasterDid you meet / play for some of these legends that recorded at Sound City?
Not at Sound City (though I did at other studios). Some of the sessions at Sound City I worked on were engineered by Keith Olson (producer Pat Benatar, Fleetwood Mac).
